Search: Navigating your information

Search is the core engine of myReach. It is designed to help you find and access your stored information with total precision, regardless of how your data is organised.

You can search by using the AI-powered Assistant, the Genie, the search bar in the Homepage, or two search strategies directly in your Knowledge Base.

In the Knowledge Base, the two ways to search are: 1. Using the Search Bar for traditional or semantic retrieval. 2. Using the Chat Search button for a similar experience to the Assistant.

This section covers searching using the Knowledge Base.

The Search Bar is best for finding specific items or broad themes directly from your Knowledge Base. It allows you to toggle between different search modes depending on your goal (keyword search or semantic search). Click here to learn more about the Search Bar

The Chat Search button

The Chat Search Button is accessed via the message icon at the top right of your results. It turns your search results into a conversation, similar to the Assistant, but you're able to edit your search filters and view results from your Knowledge Base, as you chat. Refining with Filters

Both search methods are powered by a robust Filter panel. This allows you to narrow down thousands of Nodes into a precise list before you even begin reading.

If a search yields too many results, the Filter panel allows you to pinpoint exact Nodes using multiple criteria simultaneously.

Filter by Node Type

Narrows down your search to only a specific categories: Files, Websites, Notes or Tags.

Filter by Node Filter (aka. relationships)

This allows you to find items based on their connections, ie. based on relationships to a specific node.

  • In Common: Shows Nodes that share relationships with your selected criteria (e.g., "All files connected to both Project X and John Smith").

  • All Nodes: This option will display all the nodes that are related to the selected nodes.

-Exclusion: Hide items connected to specific Topics or Workspaces to remove "noise" from your results.

Filter by Properties

Refine results based on the metadata you have added or the AI has populated.

  • Conditions: Search for Properties that are equal to, greater than or less than specific values (e.g., "Cost less than £100" or "Rating above 4 stars" or with a "done checklist marked", or with a "renewal date between 1st and 31st January 2027", etc).

  • Date Ranges: Find everything created or modified between specific dates.

You can also add multiple Property filters to create complex search queries based on various properties.

You can choose to pin a Property, so it appears permanently on your Filter pannel. A good recommendation is to pin the "AI Status" Property, so you can filter for any nodes that are "Failed to Learn" easily.

Filters

Pro Tip. Clearing your view

To return to the default search view, you can clear all applied filters by clicking the "Reset" button next to the filters pannel. This resets your view to the default search without you having to manually remove each filter.

Workspace Scoping

By default, myReach searches within your current Workspace. However, you can select multiple Workspaces to search through. There are two options:

  • From the left sidebar: Click on the icon of the Workspaces, to select multiple ones.

  • From the "Node Filter" filter: Click on the "Node Filter" option and select "Search in all Workspaces"
