Search Bar¶
The Search Bar is located at the top of your Knowledge Base and serves as your primary tool for navigating through your digital brain. It is designed to be fast and intuitive, allowing you to find any Node in seconds.
Search Modes¶
When you use the search bar in the Knowledge Base, you can choose between three modes to suit your needs. The search functionality includes a dropdown menu with three modes:
-
Auto Search: The default and recommended mode. The system automatically determines whether your query should be processed as a literal keyword or a contextual concept, providing the best of both worlds. If your input in the search bar is 3 or more words, it will do a Semantic Search. If it's less than 3 words, it will perform a simple keyword search.
-
Text Search: A traditional "Keyword" search. This mode looks for exact text matches within titles and content. It's the best choice for finding specific technical terms, invoice numbers or unique names.
-
Semantic Search: The most advanced mode. Semantic search understands the context and intent behind your query. It surpasses basic keyword matching by:
- Understanding context and intent.
- Identifying synonyms and interpreting abbreviations.
- Recognising different text forms (e.g., "USA" vs. "United States").
Benefits of Semantic Search¶
Semantic Search goes beyond enhancing search results by transforming the way you interact with your data. Here are the key advantages:
- Contextual Relevance: Delivers results that are contextually relevant to your query, reducing search time and improving efficiency.
- Improved Understanding: Helps you comprehend and navigate your knowledge base more effectively, linking you to pertinent information swiftly.
- Enhanced Productivity: Streamlines your search experience, ensuring you receive the most relevant information without unnecessary delay.
How to use the Search Bar¶
-
Type Your Query: Type a question (for semantic search) or simply just a name, keyword or concept (for text search).
-
Let the AI work: If it's a keyword search (2 or less words), the results will appear instantly. If it's a semantic search (3 or more words), a window will open where the AI Assistant will answer the question.
-
Continue Chat: With a semantic search, you can click on "Continue Chat" to open the Chat Search popup on the right of the screen.
Pro Tip¶
If you are searching for a technical term that you know exactly how to spell, switch the mode to Text Search. This bypasses the AI's contextual interpretation and goes straight to the exact matching characters in your database.
